It was brought to my attention that it is a fashion faux pas to mix brown and black in an outfit. Personally, I never thought about this. I actually do mix brown and black – e.g. black pants with brown leather belt or black pants with brown shoes. I trust my fashion eye and if it looks good to me then it looks good. (Sorry Nicole).
And who else to demonstrate that it is ok to mix brown and black together? Michelle Obama.
This photo was taken yesterday during the We Are One presidential celebration in Lincoln Memorial. I also found this photo of Becki Newton (she plays Amanda in Ugly Betty) where she successfully pulled off a brown/black outfit combo by accessorizing a brown dress with a black belt and black boots.
Back to the We Are One presidential celebration…if you missed it, I strongly suggest that you watch it on uTube or find when HBO will replay it. Surely they will show it again sometime before the inauguration on Tuesday. A lot of great artists came out and demonstrated their support – the Boss, Jack Black, U2, Beyonce, Samuel Jackson, James Taylor, Stevie Wonder, Herbie Hancock, Tom Hanks, Forest Whitaker, and many others. It was a great celebration and I was touched. It also made me want to get an Obama shirt.
